Napoli manager, Luciano Spalletti, has admitted that it would be difficult to say no to Manchester United if the Premier League club had made an offer of €100m[approximately N42 billion] for Victor Osimhen.
The Nigeria international has been linked with a hypothetical transfer to United before the close of the transfer window on Thursday in a move that would see Cristiano Ronaldo head in the opposite direction.
Osimhen’s agents, Roberto Calendar and Spalletti have made it clear that no negotiations have taken place over a potential transfer of the Nigeria international to the Red Devils.
Signed from Lille for a Nigerian transfer record of 70 million euros, Osimhen, who
made 27 Serie A appearances for Napoli, scored 14 goals with two assists is valued in the region at 100 million euros by Napoli.
Spalletti was asked to react to reports that United could let Ronaldo leave on loan to Napoli if they were to spend €100m on Victor Osimhen.
The Italian tactician was quoted as saying by Football Italia: “I don’t have time to think about these things, we have a game every few days. Is the club thinking about it? The club thinks of any situation that is of interest to our players.”I say that if a club offers you €100m, it is not easy to say no. Since I arrived here, all the players have been on the market for the right price.”
The former AS Roma manager explained why Osimhen chose to remain in his team.
“(Osimhen) replied,” Spalletti responded when asked if he had spoken to Osimhen about the purported move to United.
“Maybe through his agent, he said he wants to play the Champions League. He showed that he is doing well in this group. He loves his teammates; he is willing to chase opponents for his teammates.
“In addition to being a top terminal for any team. He is very strong in his head, very strong in speed to attack the spaces, and physical for the ball on him. Having him available and with his head here is the top.”
Osimhen with two goals in the kitty this season fired blank on Sunday night as Napoli were held to a goalless draw by Fiorentina in a Serie A game at Stadio Artemio Franchi.
